Baan Tawai Woodcarving
The Baan Tawai village is a trove of silks, candles, oils, incense, lamps, and soaps, but its greatest lure is its masterful woodcarvings. Passed down through generations, teak woodcarving is a centuries-old trade that celebrates the history, culture, and people of Thailand.
The village hosts over six hundred small businesses that make a variety of wood products, from ornamental sculptures to practical furniture. Baan Tawai woodcarvers include acolytes and students learning the craft, and artisans who have spent decades mastering their work.
